The course is open to male and female students and delivered at the Armatus Risks Training and Operations Centre, near Guildford, Surrey, UK. As well as the Level 3 Certificate in Close Protection, successful graduates will also attain a BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Physical Intervention, BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Surveillance Awareness and a BTEC Level 2 First Person on Scene (Intermediate) Certificate. Additionally, all driving on the course is delivered by Close Protection qualified and experienced Police Advanced Drivers, with graduates also attaining a BTEC Level 2 in Protective Driving.
All weapon training is carried out on the European mainland at the Armatus Risks Training and Operations Centre (Europe), due to very strict UK live-firing regulations. Only real weapons and ammunition (unrestricted amount) are utilised throughout and each live-firing practice is designed to progress the student to an extremely high level of competence by the end of the course.
